Abstract
By developing cities and industries, the demand for energy is increasing, and electrical energy is among the most essential of them. Consequently, even a brief disruption in the power supply may be led to significant and irreversible damages. This underscores the necessity of the rapid construction and continuous stability of power transmission lines. To ensure the distribution of electricity across various regions, specialized tall structures, commonly known as power transmission towers, are utilized. One specific type of transmission towers is the monopole or telescopic tower. Serve storms and earthquake loads may threat the stability and performance of the transmission system. Therefore, it is necessary to design and construct safe structure and their foundation. Moreover, rapid construction of foundation of towers in special regions under emergency conditions is of interesting and important. Helical piles, due to their unique properties, can serve as a reliable solution in these conditions. In this research possible use of helical pile foundation system are evaluated as a foundation of telescopic towers via numerical modeling. For this purpose, a concrete pier (CP) and a group of helical piles (GHP) used as a foundation of tower and their performance was compared in terms of stresses and deformations. The results showed that it is possible to replace the concrete pier with the helical group pile system. Lateral deformation of foundation is lower in GHP foundation type as compared with concrete one and settlement of GHP is a little more than that of concrete foundation.
